Security Corp. and Zions Bancorp. drew heavy criticism on Friday
after First Security announced that its first quarter results would
fall short of expectations. The problem results may have breathed new
life into a federal lawsuit challenging the deal. |
| Fate of LDS Church's Promised Valley Playhouse To Be Determined By Poll |
| Salt Lake County residents will soon be
polled to decide the fate of the Promised Valley Playhouse. Groups
including Ballet West, the Utah Heritage Foundation and The Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are poised to determine the level
of support that they and county residents would be willing to give to
a $24 million renovation of the closed and deteriorated State Street
building. |
| MoTab Back On Air In Seattle |
| "Music and the Spoken Word," the long-running
weekly LDS Church broadcast featuring the Mormon Tabernacle Choir,
returned to the air this past weekend in Seattle. KITZ-AM (1400)
picked up the broadcast, carrying two half-hour programs (the current
and the previous week's programs) at 8 a.m. Sunday. The program was
dropped by a Seattle classical music station last year. |
| 'God' Cartoon Cancelled By KSL Called Blasphemy |
| The prime-time NBC cartoon "God, the Devil and Bob" that LDS Church-owned NBC affiliate KSL-TV declined to carry has also been dumped by
several other NBC affiliates. Now Tele-evangelist Jerry Falwell has
added to the controversy, saying that the show achieves, "a new
echelon of blasphemy'' for network television and "does nothing but
diminish the magnitude of almighty God in the minds of naive
viewers." |
