Man that Bombed LDS Buildings in Las Vegas Released

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA -- A US District Judge in Las Vegas has released a man accused of bombing a series of LDS chapels around the city. James Carbullido was released because doctors determined he is not mentally ill, as the court ruled last March.

Carbullido plead not guilty by reason of insanity in March after experts for both his defensce and for the government diagnosed him as a paranoid schizophrenic. He was then committed to a federal mental hospital in New York, where doctors soon realized that he was not mentally ill, but severely addicted to methamphetamine, which caused him to display the symptoms of mental illness.

Judge David Hagen then heard arguments on July 24th from Carbullido's attorney, who argued for his release and from prosecutors, who disagreed, saying that he was still a danger to the community. In ordering Carbullido's release, Judge Hagen required that he remain on a strict outpatient treatment regimen and ordered him to report monthly on his progress. The Judge also ordered that Carbullido submit to random drug tests.
