Former Mission President Sanfred Elieson Sr.

DENTON, TEXAS -- Former mission president Sanfred Elieson Sr. died July 29th after a severe heart attack. Elieson, a long-time resident of Denton county, Texas, served as president of the then-Texas Mission for the LDS Church from 1964 to 1967. He was 85.

Elieson was a self-employed insurance agent and financial consultant who was a Utah native and also lived in Southern California before settling in Texas. He also had a long history of service to the LDS Church, including missionary service in the Southern US states from 1934 to 1936, during the height of the depression. During the 1950s, he served as bishop of the Morningside Park Ward in Los Angeles.

Elieson also served in connection with the Dallas Texas Temple, presiding over its public open house in 1984 and serving as first counselor in the temple presidency from 1987-1990. He was also a patriarch in his stake since 1975.
