LDS Businessman Harold Jones Dies

PROVO, UTAH -- Harold Baker Jones, 86, founder of Jones Paint &Glass, passed away February 4, 2001.

Mr. Jones, the son of John Henry and Alice Baker Jones, was born May 10, 1914 in Monticello, Utah. He met his wife, Fay Knight, at Brigham Young University and they were married November 23, 1934.

During his life, Mr. Jones served as the Vice Chairman of Deseret Industries, as a Utah Valley Hospital Board member, as a member of Kiwanis Club, and as a lifetime member of the BYU Cougar Club. He was also active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served as Bishop twice, as Stake President of the Provo Utah Stake, and as a Stake Patriarch in three stakes. He also spent many years working with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Jones and his wife served a mission in the San Jose, California Mission in San Francisco.

Besides his wife, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth H. and Judy Jones of Mapleton, Merlynn K. and Susan Jones of Provo; two daughters and sons-in-law, Shirlene and Swen Nielsen of Provo currently serving a mission in Sweden, Renee and Don Butler of Provo currently serving as Mission President in Hartford, Connecticut; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Elaine Jensen of Price, Vera Zaremba of Orem, Jean and Keith Bertola of Salt Lake City; 19 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
