President Hinckley Announces San Antonio Temple
At a regional fireside this evening, June 24th, President Gordon B. Hinckley announced that he had spent the day looking for land for a temple in the San Antonio, Texas area. "We've come here to see about a temple." He said the Church didn't own land for it yet, but that he was "looking around today for a place to put it." He spoke about preparing and being worthy to attend the temple, "If we build a temple here, as I think we will do." He challenged members to be prepared and worthy to enter the temple, and discussed those requirements.

Missionaries in Peru Safe, Church Reports
After an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.9 hit off the coast of Peru Saturday, the LDS Church reported that all missionaries in the area of the quake are safe. A news report in the Deseret News Sunday quoted Dale Bills, spokesman for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as saying that all missionaries were safe and accounted for. However, Bills did not yet have information about the status of Church members and facilities in the area at that time.

Church in Peru Assists Earthquake Victims
Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Peru are supplying aid to victims of Saturday's earthquake that rocked Arequipa, Moquegua, Tacna and surrounding areas.
