Classroom Lease to LDS Church on Hold
A plan to lease a high school classroom to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is on hold amid delays at the county attorney's office and criticism from civil rights groups, leading some 200 LDS students at Higly High School to be bussed to a nearby charter school for seminary. The plan to lease a classroom in an unoccupied building on the high school's campus was approved by the Higley school board on August 21st, contingent on the approval of the Maricopa County Attorney's office.

Fillmore 150th to Feature President Hinckley
The Southern Utah town of Fillmore will celebrate its sesquicentennial a few weeks early, and President Gordon B. Hinckley of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be the featured speaker at the town's anniversary program. President Hinckley's grandfather, Nathaniel Hinckley, was the town's stake president and later its patriarch for many years.

BYU presents faculty, staff awards at University Conference
A professor of accounting and associate dean of the Marriott School of Management has been named this year's Karl G. Maeser Distinguished Faculty Lecturer, Brigham Young University's highest faculty honor.

Uncle Bill Teacher of the Year
William K. Wallace III, a native of Moloka'i and chair of the Jonathan Napela Center for Hawai'ian Language and Cultural Studies at Brigham Young University-Hawai'i, was honored as the university's Teacher of the Year.

BYU students participate in World Youth forum in Senegal
Brigham Young University students worked to empower youth and promote the family at the third World Youth Forum (WYF) of the UN System in Dakar, Senegal.

Brigham Young University faculty member Lynn E. Henrichsen was recently named chair of the Department of Linguistics.
