La Crescenta LDS Man Profiled for Helping Where Needed
LA CRESCENTA, CALIFORNIA -- Clair Rawlins, of La Crescenta, California likes
to step in and help wherever help is needed. The 62 year-old father of six
and husband to wife, Ann for 37 years, Rawlins enjoys his five grandsons and
one granddaughter. Rawlins was named the Crescenta Valley Town Council's
August Neighbor of the Month. He is in his fourth year serving with the
council and has been involved with the Boy Scouts for more than 25 years.
Rawlins recently organized a group of 40 people to help the wife of a
longtime acquaintance who had died. "I knew she needed some help and
assistance," Rawlins said. "I could sense that there was a problem there.
She wouldn't invite anyone into her house."
Rawlins is currently the High Priest group leader for The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints in his Crescenta Ward. He is responsible for
helping 85 families as needs arise. "I want to help people," he said. "I
like people. We're all God's children. We're all precious, and that's just
how I feel about it."
"He's a people person," said his wife Ann. "He just likes helping people."
For the past 18 years he has helped time cross-country runners atthe local
high school and works at the annual CIF cross country meet.
