RM's Rose Bowl Heroics Forgotten As He Seeks New Challenge
Returned LDS missionary Darrell Bevell was once the hero of the University of Wisconsin Badgers, assaulting every school passing record and providing heroics in the Rose Bowl that gave the team its first Rose Bowl victory. But while Bevell is fondly remembered, he has left that behind for another football goal -- on the sidelines. Bevell is now an offensive assistant for the Green Bay Packers, helping that team win games in a much more inconspicuous way. And he hopes one day to be running an NFL team from the sidelines.

BYU's Luke Staley Named Doak Walker Award Finalist, All American
The SMU Athletic Forum Board of Directors today announced the three finalists for the 2001 Doak Walker Award. In alphabetical order, the are Bruce Perry of Maryland, Lucas Staley of Brigham Young and Travis Stephens of Tenessee.

Sports: Madsen Back from Injury, Another Mormon QB Disaster
The Los Angeles Lakers' Mark Madsen was back on the court last week, playing in his first game of the season after recovering from an abdominal strain. He was joined in Football by Cinninnati Bengals quarterback Scott Mitchell, who got to play for the first time this year, but unlike Madsen, Mitchell's play was a disaster, as he gave up 3 interceptions and completed just 4 passes of 12 attempts for 38 yards.
