Republican Challengers to Matheson Multiply
SALT LAKE CITY, UTAH -- Private businessman David Smith announced
last week that he will seek the Republican nomination in Utah's 2nd
U.S. House District, adding his name to the list of hopefuls who
would challenge Democratic Rep. Jim Matheson, an LDS Church member.
Smith, a private consultant for a digital printing company, joins
Attorney and state Rep. John Swallow, R-Sandy, and retired Army pilot
Gary R. Stephens in seeking the nomination. Salt Lake County
Councilman Steve Harmsen may also enter the race.
