Grand Blanc breaks ground on new chapel year after deadly attack
September 30, 2026 at 4:03 PM MT · Summarized by Mormon News from original reporting
The Grand Blanc, Michigan LDS congregation held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new chapel on September 28, 2026, exactly one year after an attack at the site killed four people and injured eight others. The new building will replace the chapel that was destroyed in the violence.
Meridian Magazine reports that the ceremony served as both a site dedication and a testament to the congregation's resilience. The original building had served the community for more than four decades before the September 2025 attack during Sunday worship.
