A Pew Research Center study finds that retention rates for people raised in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints have dropped dramatically over the last decade, while conversion rates have remained relatively stable, according to ABC4 Utah. Only 54% of people raised LDS now identify as Latter-day Saints in adulthood.

The findings represent a significant shift in the Church's membership dynamics. Historically, the faith maintained high retention among children raised in believing families, but the new data shows fewer are staying active or identifying with the religion as adults.

The study arrives as the Church faces broader questions about retention and growth. While missionary work continues to bring in converts at steady rates, the inability to retain second-generation members presents a different challenge for institutional stability.
