Survivors of abuse confronted fundamentalist LDS leader Samuel Bateman during his sentencing hearing on child abuse charges, FOX 10 Phoenix reports. Bateman, who led a polygamous group, previously received a 24-year federal sentence and faced additional state charges.

Bateman's fundamentalist group is not affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which discontinued polygamy in 1890 and excommunicates members who practice it. Multiple women who were abused as children in Bateman's group spoke at the hearing.
