Tribune columnist: BYU must deliver on promises to Sitake
August 15, 2026 at 11:08 AM MT · via The Salt Lake Tribune · Summarized by Mormon News from original reporting
Salt Lake Tribune columnist Gordon Monson argues that BYU football coach Kalani Sitake's recent comments about resource frustrations suggest the university has not fulfilled commitments made when convincing him to stay in Provo rather than pursue other opportunities.
Sitake, who has led BYU through its transition to Big 12 competition, addressed his relationship with the athletic director and expressed frustration over facilities and support. Monson contends the university must invest appropriately if it expects to compete at the Power Five level.
