Jeffs was convicted in 2011 for assaulting underage girls he claimed as plural wives. He leads the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, a fundamentalist group not affiliated with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which discontinued polygamy in 1890.
