The satirical musical "The Book of Mormon" has become the ninth-longest-running show in Broadway history, according to New York Theatre Guide. The Trey Parker and Matt Stone production, which opened in 2011, has now surpassed previous milestone holders in total performances.

The show, which parodies LDS missionary work and Mormon beliefs, has remained a commercial success despite — or perhaps because of — its irreverent treatment of the faith. It continues to draw audiences more than 15 years after its debut.

The production has won nine Tony Awards including Best Musical, and its longevity places it among Broadway's most enduring shows.
