The Knoxville temple is the first in Tennessee, while Cincinnati will be Ohio's second temple after the Columbus temple dedicated in 1999. The La Paz temple adds to the Church's growing presence in South America, and Smithfield's temple serves Utah's Cache Valley region.

The announcements follow the Church's pattern of releasing temple progress updates through official channels, with open house and dedication dates typically announced 6-8 weeks before the events.
