The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held a groundbreaking ceremony for a new meetinghouse in Grand Blanc, Michigan, a year after a gunman killed one person and injured another at the site in September 2025. The Salt Lake Tribune reports church and community leaders attended the ceremony.

The original building was damaged in the shooting and subsequent arson. Church officials announced plans to rebuild on the same site earlier this year, and construction is now underway.

The accused shooter was arrested at the scene and faces murder charges. The case is proceeding through Michigan's court system.
