A new poll shows Utahns souring on both President Donald Trump and Gov. Spencer Cox, with approval ratings for both dropping by double digits over the past year, driven primarily by economic concerns.

The declines are notable in heavily Republican Utah, where Trump won by 20 points in 2024 and Cox — a Latter-day Saint — was reelected by a wide margin. Utah voters historically rank among the most reliably conservative in the nation, shaped in part by the state's overwhelming LDS majority.

The poll did not break out results by religious affiliation, but the statewide shift suggests erosion even among the state's Mormon Republican base, which comprises roughly 55% of Utah's adult population.
