Hasan Piker, a prominent left-wing Twitch streamer with millions of followers, publicly praised a Latter-day Saint apostle's sermon condemning gambling and sports betting. Piker's endorsement brought the general conference address to audiences far outside Mormon circles, sparking discussion across social media.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports that Piker's praise represented one side of a split reaction — some applauded the moral stance while others dismissed it as irrelevant religious instruction. The crossover moment illustrates rare common ground between progressive secular critics of capitalism and conservative religious teaching on addiction and exploitation.
