KSL's Pac-12 Hotline analyzes why Saturday's BYU-Notre Dame game carries huge implications for the Cougars' season and gigantic consequences for the Big 12 conference's national standing. The piece argues the matchup ranks among the most significant in BYU's 104-year football history, second only to the 1984 Holiday Bowl that clinched the program's national championship.

BYU enters the game undefeated while Notre Dame sits at No. 2 in national rankings. The outcome affects Big 12 playoff positioning and the conference's credibility in its first season with BYU as a member.
